How to fix a Sennheiser $150 ME2 or ME4 microphone for about 50₵

Dave Wemmie, Jr. March 2015

I work at a conference center with multiple classrooms and I am a media volunteer at my church. Both places use Sennheiser wireless lavaliere microphones.  Invariably someone will try to be helpful by wrapping the mic cable tightly around the body of the transmitter, which over time breaks the cable – usually at the strain relief.  The first time this happened I just ordered a new one at $150.  Shortly after, 2 more were broken and this time I decided to try to fix them – after all, what did I have to lose?  Now years later, and many re-solder jobs later, I thought I’d do this tutorial.

How do I choose the right wireless microphone?
Dave Wemmie, Jr.  November 2009

As you may know, there are a lot of mics out there at so many different price points.  So how do you find a good one to fit in your budget?  A friend once asked me this same question in an email.  His church budget was $500.  Here was my response.  Some of the models and or prices may be different today but the principles still apply.

What makes a great presentation?

Dave Wemmie January 2013

Is it Graphics?  Fonts?  Layout?  Colors?  All of the above. You can make a presentation with great graphics but have poor layout, color or font choices and visa versa.  This is a tutorial based on my own experience of both making and receiving presentations both good and bad.  There is no industry standard but there are some basic design rules that you should follow when putting together a presentation...
